2. Sally Gardens

Down by the salley gardens
my love and I did meet.
She crossed the salley gardens
with little snow-white feet.

She bid me take life easy
as the leaves grow on the tree,
but I was young and foolish,
with her did not agree.

In a field down by the river
my love and I did stand
and upon my leaning shoulder
she laid her snow-white hand.

She bid me take life easy
as the grass grows on the weirs
but I was young and foolish
and now I am full of tears.

It was down by the salley gardens
my love and I did meet
She crossed the salley gardens
with little snow-white feet.
She bid me to take life easy
as the leaves grow on the tree
but I was young and foolish
and with her I did not agree.

3. Spancil Hill

Last night as I lay dreamin'
Of pleasant days gone by
Me mind bein' bent on rambling
To Ireland I did fly
I stepped on board a vision and
I followed with the wind
Till next I came to anchor at
The cross at Spancil Hill.

It being the 23rd of June
The day before the fair
When Ireland's sons and daughters
And friends assembled there
The young, the old
The brave and the bold came
Their duty to fulfill
At the parish church near Clooney
A mile from Spancil Hill

I went to see my neighbours to
See what they might say
The old ones were all dead and gone
The young ones turning grey
I met the tailor Quigley
He's as bold as ever still
He used to mend my britches when
I lived in Spancil Hill

4. Whiskey In The Jar

(1) As I was a goin′ over the far
famed Kerry mountains
I met with captain Farrell and

his money he was counting
I first produced my pistol and

I then produced my rapier
Saying "Stand and deliver"

for he were a bold deceiver.

Refrain:
Mush-a ring dumb do dumb da
Whack for my daddy-o.
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar
---
(2) I counted out his money and
it made a pretty penny
I put it in me pocket and
I took it home to Jenny
She sighed and she swore
that she never would deceive me
But the devil take the women
for they never can be easy.

Refrain:

Mush-a ring dumb do dumb da
Whack for my daddy-o.
Whack for my daddy-o
There′s whiskey in the jar
---
(3) I went up to my chamber,
all for to take a slumber
I dreamt of gold and jewels and
for sure 't was no wonder
But Jenny drew me charges and
she filled them up with water
Then sent for captain Farrell
to be ready for the slaughter.

Refrain:

Mush-a ring dumb do dumb da
Whack for my daddy-o.
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar.
---

(4) If anyone can aid me
't is my brother in the army
If I can find his station in Cork
or in Killarney
And if he′ll go with me,
we'll go rovin' through Killkenny
And I′m sure he′ll treat me better
than my own a-sporting Jenny.

Refrain:
Mush-a ring dumb do dumb da
Whack for my daddy-o.
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar.

Refrain:
Mush-a ring dumb do dumb da
Whack for my daddy-o.
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar.

5. Oh Danny Boy

Oh Danny Boy, the pipes,

the pipes are calling
From glen to glen and

down the mountain side
The summer's gone,

and all the roses fallin'
It's you, it's you must go

and I must bide.

But come ye back when

summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed

and white with snow
and I'll be here in sunshine

or in shadow
Oh Danny Boy, oh Danny Boy,

I love you so.

But if you come,

and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead,

as dead I well may be
I‘ll pray you find the place

where I am lying
And kneel and say

an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, though soft

ye tread above me
And all my grave will warmer,

sweeter be
For you will come

and tell me that you love me
And I will sleep in peace until

you come to me.

6. The Wellerman

(1) There once was a ship

that put to sea

The name of the ship

was the Billy O' Tea

The winds blew up,

her bow dipped down

Oh blow, my bully boys,

blow (huh).

Refrain:

Soon may the Wellerman come

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.

----------

(2) She had not been

two weeks from shore

When down on her

a right whale bore

The captain called

all hands and swore

He'd take that whale in tow (huh)

Refrain:

Soon may the Wellerman come

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.
----------

(3) Before the boat had hit the water

The whale's tail came up

and caught her

All hands to the side, harpooned

and fought her

When she dived down low (huh)

Refrain:

Soon may the Wellerman come

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.
----------

(Zwischenspiel länger)

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.

----------

(4) No line was cut,

no whale was freed

The captain's mind

was not of greed

And he belonged to

the Whaleman's creed

She took that ship in tow (huh).

Refrain:

Soon may the Wellerman come

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.

----------

(5) For forty days or even more
The line went slack
then tight once more
All boats were lost,
there were only four
But still that whale did go (huh)

Refrain:

Soon may the Wellerman come

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.

----------

----------

(6) As far as I've heard,
the fight's still on
The line's not cut,
and the whale's not gone
The Wellerman makes
his regular call
To encourage the captain,
crew and all (huh)

Refrain:

Soon may the Wellerman come

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,

when the tonguing is done

We'll take our leave and go.

To bring us sugar

and tea and rum

One day,
